How to Fit Exercising Into Your Busy Life
Finding the time to workout can prove to be difficult when you have a very busy and active lifestyle. However, exercising regularly is vital for your overall health and well-being. Not only does exercise aid in weight management, it has several other benefits, such as helping you fight off chronic illnesses, improving your quality of sleep, reducing feelings of depression and anxiety, and boosting your confidence. However, studies have shown that nearly 80% of Americans don’t get the recommended amount of daily activity that they should. The number one reason that most people have attributed to this: lack of time.
So how do you make sure that you’re able to incorporate a regular exercise routine into your busy life? Check out these 5 tips:
Put It On Your Calendar
The key to sticking with any health and fitness routine is to make it a priority. Why not plan your workouts the same way you plan meetings, or any other important tasks. Put it on your calendar, set an alarm, and stick to it!
Make it a Part of Your Morning Routine
Staying committed to your workout goals may require you to make some adjustments to your current lifestyle or schedule. This can include waking up earlier to ensure that you’re able to get your workout in before the hustle and bustle of the day. As the day progresses, with work, family and our many other commitments, we may be too tired at the end of the day, making it easier to skip out on your workout. Make yourself the first priority of the day by making exercise a part of your morning routine.
Prepare Ahead
When you prepare ahead of time, you are less likely to skip a workout. Finding ways to make it as easy and convenient as possible will help to keep you motivated and on track. Pick out your workout clothes and shoes for the week, just as you would when you prepare your clothes for the work week. Pack your gym bag and leave it in your car so that you’ll already have it in case you decide to get in a workout on your lunch break, right after work, etc. Proper planning and preparation are keys to success.
Choose Quality Over Duration
A quality workout does not have to be long. It’s totally possible to get in a good workout in 30 minutes or less. It only takes about 25 minutes to stimulate the body’s metabolic and anabolic systems that help build muscle and burn fat. So, rather than focus on how long your workout is, place the focus on the quality of your workout, and make every minute count. Great examples are HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) workouts, as they are the best for fat loss. These can include body weight exercises such as squats, lunges, burpees, push ups, etc.
Go Virtual
If you simply cannot make it to the gym to workout, an alternative option would be a virtual training program. This would allow you to workout from anywhere. Here at Old Bull Athletics, we offer a virtual training program that can help you reach your goals without having to step foot into our facility. With our online tutorials and one-on-one coaching via video call, we can help you reach your fitness goals from the comfort of your own home, or anywhere around the world.
